JANS Winter Welcome $400,000 for 40 years!
Over more than four decades, JANS Winter Welcome has been the backbone of supporting youth sport in our community. The Youth Sports Alliance has made the prudent decision to cancel the Winter Welcome this year. Although we will not toast together in person, the tradition of helping the youth in our community continues. Now, more than ever, kids need to connect through sport, friendship and competitions.
Support the next generation
This year our ask is simple, please consider a fully tax-deductible gift to the Youth Sports Alliance in leu of attending JANS Winter Welcome #40. Your donation will directly support the seven local sport clubs including Figure Skating Club of Park City, Park City Ice Miners Hockey, Park City Ski & Snowboard, Park City Speed Skating Club, Utah Olympic Park Skeleton & Bobsled, Wasatch Freestyle and Wasatch Luge. Funds will also augment need-based scholarships for athletes who apply to the Stein Eriksen Opportunity Endowment and YSA’s after-school programs Get Out & Play and ACTiV8.
As a way to help spread generosity and support in the community, the Youth Sports Alliance is giving back to move forward. YSA and the law firm Jones Waldo are purchasing gift cards to locally owned businesses. Donations of $1000 or more will receive a $100 gift card to one of the following retailers or restaurants:
- JANS Mountain Outfitters
- Versante Hearth + Bar
- Vinto
- Switchback Sports
- Baja Cantina
- Riverhorse On Main
Continue the legacy
The legacy of Jan Peterson will continue. Jan founded this event 40 years ago to raise money for athletes who could not afford to participate in sports. He would do anything to help the young athletes of the community, never giving up on his mission even through difficult times.
Stein Eriksen was a ski pioneer and a community leader. Since its completion in 2016, the Stein Eriksen YSA Opportunity Endowment has provided $450,000 in scholarships to local athletes. Stein once said, “My life passion and work has been about the outdoors, sportsmanship and perseverance and its rewarding to be able to help make this lifestyle a reality for the young people of Park City. I hope to encourage the benefits of teamwork and camaraderie and inspire our local youth to excel in the sports they love.”
Pursue the dream
Athletes continue to dream, dig deep and pursue their goals despite challenges they face. Finding a way to persevere has never been more important. We remain committed to raising funds for our seven affiliated winter sport teams, the Stein Eriksen YSA Opportunity Endowment and our after-school programs, Get Out & Play and ACTiV8. With your support, along with other donors and partners, we aim to raise $400,000 to replace the funds brought in through JANS Winter Welcome each year.
Helping local athletes and students to play, learn and dream is essential to making our community better physically and emotionally. Thank you for your support and we look forward to raising a glass with you at JANS Winter Welcome #41!
