Share Winter awards Youth Sports Alliance grant and ski program at Deer Valley

YSA tried new things today. We offered our first full-day Saturday program. We offered learn-to-ski classes to teens. We provided programming to students from the North Summit School District. Small things that can add up to big things.
A few months ago, Share Winter awarded us a grant that helped us expand our learn to ski, snowboard and cross-country ski programs. 759 students from across Summit and Wasatch Counties are taking part in our programs this month, with more than 500 participating in our introductory programs.
This full-day Saturday program was offered to students attending school in the Wasatch County, North Summit, and South Summit School Districts. Share Winter offered us 50 spots at Deer Valley on Saturdays at the same time we were looking for ways to increase on-snow opportunities for students living in our service-area, outside of Park City. We've run successful afterschool programs on snow in Park City for 15 years -- early release times and proximity to resorts makes this an easy endeavor.
'Belonging' matters to us. Shared experiences translate to more connected communities. Support from Share Winter and other organizations ensures that this programming is open to any child who wants to play in our outdoor wonderland. We also partner with the National Ability Center that provides lesson support for students with physical or cognitive challenges so that they can participate in our programming with their classmates.
Thank you, Share Winter for helping us get more kids on the mountain.
